DOT Medical Exam and Commercial Motor Vehicle Certification

A Department of Transportation (DOT) physical exam is a mandatory health assessment required for commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to ensure they are physically and mentally fit to operate safely. This examination must be performed by a licensed medical examiner who is officially listed on the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) National Registry. Only certified medical professionals who meet the FMCSA’s training and testing standards are authorized to conduct DOT physicals. (Source: U.S. Department of Transportation)
